Our organization has partnered with NVR since 2021 – as a grantee, peer community reviewer, participant in community capacity building sessions and as a participant of the peer leadership learning circles. NVR has been supportive in so many ways. The NVR team leads with their values and with a sincere desire to learn from and continuously improve the way they serve their community as a grantor partner and peer. I feel so well supported, cared for and heard by the team. I feel safe and comfortable with our partners at NVR, and this means a lot to me as someone who has not always felt safe or comfortable navigating the world of philanthropy as a community-based Indigenous-led non-profit leader.
Our mission is to serve Native birthing families to feel supported, well cared for, and full of the information they need to make confident choices around reproductive health, birthing, and parenthood. In doing this, we seek to reclaim as well as create new ceremony and heal our ancestors, ourselves and future generations who may have been harmed through the colonization of our bodies, healthcare, and birthing practices.
